How to apply for housemanship after passing final exams?

Well, I am writing this because of the initial confusion I faced after the final exam was over. I simply had no idea what to do next! Well, here is a simple guide to apply for housemanship. (I am unaware of the procedures for other medical professions, sorry)

**Disclaimer: This is not a one-stop wikipedia for housemanship application. It aims to provide a general idea, based on personal experience. Also to remind the readers that these things tend to change from time to time, and it is advisable to pick up your phone and do proper research and get consultation.

Before final exams

Can start applying for SPA interview online. Universities and colleges will generally guide students on this one.

After final exams

Do not pack your things and go home just yet. Stick around for a few days because the university or college will issue a dean's letter and bonafide cert. Without it, you can't proceed to the next step.

MMC application

Need to apply for "Perakuan Pendaftaran Sementara" or "provisional registration".
Can be done once you get your hands on the required documents from the university or college.
MMC building is located at Jalan Cenderasari, Kuala Lumpur.
Again, check with them for the list of documents that need to be brought for registration.
Documents need to be certified by principal of any school, and there is a school located just opposite the MMC building.
Few of those required documents include copies of transcript from previous university exams (e.g: P1S1, P1S2, P2S1...). You need them! It will be a big hassle if those documents are lost.
When I was registering with MMC, final exam transcript is not required. (It is good to ask the university or college about the date the transcript can be received so as to time your journey to all these places efficiently. You will have to take it from the university or college by yourself sooner or later.)
If you are fast and go to register at MMC immediately upon receiving required documents from college, you may be rewarded by MMC producing a certificate for provisional registration on the same day. If not, when more people are applying and the queue gets longer, you may have to wait a couple of days to get the certificate. Without it, the next step cannot be completed.

KKM application

While the previous step ensures that you are registered to become a doctor, KKM handles the placement of doctors to various hospitals. This is the time where you will have to choose and write down three hopefully lucky names of public hospitals in Malaysia. Again, check for required documents and forms. Those who choose to submit their forms and documents by hand will have to go to Putrajaya.

SPA interview

This may come before you have done the above steps or after, depending on the interview date. Just google on how to prepare for this interview, if you are going to prepare at all.

Wait for SPA to mail the "surat tawaran"

Sit at home or get a part-time job. Wait patiently for the mail to come. Once you receive it, there are 2 main things to do.

Health check-up and do "akuan" at Majistret

Can go to local Klinik Kesihatan and nearest Majistret. Bring the surat tawaran along.

Wait patiently for KKM to post the housemanship placements online

Yay! You got posted to Hospital Umum Sarawak! Congratulations and see you there, we will be colleagues soon. This will also come together with the date for Program Transformasi Minda.

Get busy. Pack your stuff, find a rental house/room, settle your transport

Also, eat as much as you want and get fat. I heard that housemanship is also a free body slimming programme.

On what else to do during your free time waiting, check out my previous post.

That's all guys. Until next time.
